Working Poor Tax Credit

Contribute to JFCS at No Additional Cost to You!

Your choice:

Pay $400 income tax, as a married couple, to the State of Arizona
OR
Make a $400 contribution to JFCS with that same $400.

Arizona taxpayers have the unique opportunity to redirect a portion of their state income tax dollars to organizations like JFCS which provides help to the working poor – at no additional expense to the taxpayer! Arizona tax code allows for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on state income tax liability.
The maximum amount of this credit is $200 for single taxpayers or heads of household and $400 for married taxpayers.

Legislature Makes Tax Credit Donations less Restrictive for Taxpayers

Up to this past year to be eligible for this credit, taxpayers must have at least once itemized deductions and deducted charitable contributions on a prior year’s Arizona return (1996 or later). And, their total contributions had to be equal to or greater than the baseline year’s contributions.

This requirement was eliminated during the 2009 Legislative Session.

Taxpayers and charities win – your donation no longer has an eligibility threshold and your gift ends up costing you nothing! Contribute by December 31 and see your tax liability reduced by up to $400 when you file your taxes by April 15.
