JFCS Urges Vaccinations During COVID-19 Pandemic

When we opened the JFCS East Valley Healthcare Center, we couldn’t have predicted that stay-at-home orders and masks would be a part of our daily routine.

As a healthcare professional, my job is to protect and ensure the health and safety of my patients. I encourage regularly scheduled well visits and counsel my patients on the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle. An important part of making sure my patients are doing everything they can do to be healthy is ensuring that they are keeping up-to-date with recommended vaccinations.

Routine vaccinations are an essential preventive care service (including pregnant women) should not be delayed because of the current pandemic.

But sadly, parents wanting to protect their children are choosing to put off scheduled appointments, waiting for when life will get “back to normal.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 continue, medical professionals are seeing a decline in preventive care, including immunization services. It is important that you maintain your routine—including during the COVID-19 pandemic— in order to protect you and your family from preventable diseases.

We are proud to announce that JFCS’s three integrated healthcare centers and our outpatient behavioral health clinic were recently certified by HealthyVerify—the country’s only medically-based, scientific and professional full-service certification company that helps organizations minimize the risk of transmitting infectious disease. We’re doing everything we can to take the proper steps to stop the spread of COVID-19 and protect you and our employees.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month. I want to take this time to remind you of the importance of routine immunizations and encourage you to make (and keep) your appointment.
