Preserving Native American Archaeology to Ensure a Cultural Future
Monica Buckle is the Executive Director of the Verde Valley Archaeology Center and Museum located in Camp Verde, Arizona. The museum is the official non-profit partner of the National Park Service for Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monument.
Monica will discuss the museum’s stewardship of over 80,000 Hisatsinom (Ancestral Hopi) objects and artifacts from the Dyck Cliff Dwelling Collection. She will also speak about the museum’s collaborations with contemporary Native American artists. The past and the present are interconnected through conservation and cultural continuity.
