Nurturing Parenting Program (NPP)

One of our new programs in homebased Services is the Nurturing Parenting Program (NPP). NPP is an evidence-based program designed to help parents enhance parenting capacities and improve the nurturing quality of their relationship with their child. the research done on this program shows that it reduces child mal-treatment and improves parent-child relationship and the ability of parents to manage child behavior. The NPP program includes curriculum for teaching skills, preparation of nurturing activities, and the observation of parents with their children and coaching with parents.

The Nurturing Activities require supplies, which are listed below.

  • Pencil Box
  • Playdoh
  • Paint brushes
  • Tempera paint
  • Coloring pencils
  • Glue (both glue sticks and Elmer's glue)
  • Scissors (adult & child safety scissors)
  • Puppets (hand-made or animal puppets)
  • Paper bags (lunch sacks)
  • String (cotton string; no color preference)
  • Colored Tissue paper
  • Index cards
  • Magazines (used for collages-a variety would work best) any amount of old magazines
  • White Poster board
  • Disposable or reusable Pie pans
  • Playing Cards
  • Safety pins
  • Marbles
  • 1-2 gallon Bucket
  • Shaving cream
  • Non scrubbing dish sponges
  • Flashlight (no size preferences, just "bright")
  • Cookie cutters
  • Towel
  • Blanket/sheet
  • Hand Mirror
  • Baby Doll (infant size, no other preferences)
  • Light Sheer Scarf
  • Dance ribbon
  • Straws (non-bendy plastic would work best)
  • Stapler
  • Wood blocks
  • bags to hold all this stuff
