Transition To Adulthood
While 18 means you are legally recognized as an adult, it does not mean
you are ready to immediately bear the burden of financial and housing
responsibilities by yourself. Thousands of young men and women are released
from foster care every year upon turning 18 without any support, and often
no place to live. The Transition to Adulthood Program is for young adults
between the ages of 16 and 21 who need help preparing for the future.
In addition to working with former and current foster care teens, we also
assist adolescents with behavioral health conditions.
Over the course of this program, we help teens with:
- Career planning
- Daily living skills
- Enrolling in college
- Finance management
- Social relationship
- Building community connections
We work one on one with clients to develop personal relationships that
let these young adults know someone is on their side. A support system
is a major asset when preparing for the road ahead, and through group
sessions and activities we connect teens with others going through similar
situations so they can share experiences and back each other up.
